The Mechina “Gur Aryeh” for French speakers embarked this week on an intense journey in the desert area near Sde Boker. Three intensive days challenged the group members with physical and mental trials: long treks, crawls, field cooking, and heavy loads that demanded determination and resilience.
The highlight of the activity took place at dawn when the members of “Gur Aryeh” joined 2,000 young people on a 10 km hike. The blue and white flag waving above them and the desert breeze created a moving scene of deep connection to identity and values.
During the day, the group participated in an IDF fair, where the young participants were exposed to the military and Israeli security world. There, they met soldiers and commanders who provided insight into the challenging future that awaits them.
In the evening, as darkness fell, the Mechina members paused to light the Hanukkah candles. The message was clear: even in the heart of the field, Jewish tradition remains the cornerstone of our path.
“Gur Aryeh” does not just educate about values—they live them in the field. They lead a path based on challenges, determination, and strengthening Jewish and Zionist identity. This is not just a Mechina; it is a mission.
