The Betar Movement is a world Zionist youth movement founded 85 years ago by Ze'ev Jabotinsky. Betar members played important roles in the creation of Israel. Today the Betar Movement is active in many world branches and is involved in Jewish and Zionist activism.
As founder of the Revisionist Movement and Betar, the Zionist youth movement, Ze’ev Jabotinsky devoted his life to establishing a strong Jewish homeland. He created both the Irgun, a militant underground Zionist organization, and the NZO (New Zionist Organization), leading to the development of Likud. The 71st anniversary of Jabotinsky’s death was memorialized on August 1st at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
Hundreds of Betarim from Israel and the Diaspora participated in the ceremony. Betarim from Uruguay and South Africe placed flowers as representatives of Jabotinsky's followers.
While here in Israel temperatures continue to rise, on the other side of the world, Betar Australia's winter camps are in full swing.
The three Betar centres in Australia, Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland, each held a weeklong camp including educational content, leadership development and of course, lots of fun.
